Manager, 3 employees of FCI Shaheed Gunj depot arrested for demanding, accepting bribe: ACB

Srinagar, Oct 28 (KNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday said that it trapped and arrested a manager and other employees of Food Corporation of India in Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar fro demanding and accepting bribe for unloading a truck.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that ACB trapped and arrested one Abdul Qayoom, Manager and other employees of FCI for demanding and accepting bribe for unloading the truck.

“Anti Corruption Bureau received a written complaint alleging therein that the employees of FCI Depot Srinagar are unnecessarily delaying to unload the Truck and issuance of challan thereof. The complainant approached the ACB for taking legal action against Abdul Qayoom, Manager and other employees of the FCI (Food Corporation of India),” reads the statement.

It reads that it was revealed that more than 200 vehicles per month are unloaded at FCI Shaheed Gunj and Manager and other officials use delaying tactics for unloading of vehicles and demand bribe for issuance of challan.

“On receipt of the complaint Case FIR No. 32/2021 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 & 120 IPC was registered in this Bureau and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Abdul Qayoom, Manager and 03 other officials of FCI for demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs. 1500/- from the complainant,” it reads.

The statement reads that the accused were arrested and taken into custody by ACB team, while further investigation into the case is going on. (KNS)
