Major IED Attack Averted By Security Forces;Army



Srinagar, 28 May (KNS): Army on Thursday said that a major arrack has been averted in pulama a statement issued to KNS reads Post elimination of the top leadership of Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen, there have been regular inputs of the terror tanzeems planning an attack on Security Forces. Inputs of vehicle based Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks were received which were steadily providing a much clearer picture of the terror plan including identities and specifics. On confirmed input of a suicide bomber moving with the vehicle based IED received on 27 May 20, multiple Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCP) were established on the appreciated routes.

On 27 May 20 at around 2215 hours, a car was spotted by MVCP positioned on road Rajpora - Shajimarg. On being challenged, it turned back and fled away. The car was chased by own troops and fired upon, with an aim to stop it and was finally intercepted at Awindgund, where it was found abandoned. The car was found to be rigged with an IED. Cordon and search operations were also launched in the vicinity to nab the terrorists. On morning of 28 May 20, the IED was destroyed in location by the bomb disposal squad.

The neutralization of this vehicle based IED has averted a major Pulwama style fidayeen attack on the Security Forces. Operations will be intensified in coming days to deny any opportunity to terrorists for staging such dastardly attacks, the statement said
