Lawaypora encounter: Pulwama, Sgr parts observe partial shutdown

Srinagar, Jan 01 (KNS): Several parts of Srinagar and district Pulwama on Friday observed spontaneous shutdown against the killing of three "militants" two days ago in Lawaypora gunbattle.

Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the business hub of Pulwama, Lal Chowk of Srinagar and its adjoining areas wore a deserted look where all shops and business establishment remained shut.

It said that markets of Lal Chowk, Amira Kadal, Maisuma, Gaw Kadal, Abi Guzar, Residency Road, Jehangir Chowk and adjoining areas were shut while as traffic was plying normally on the roads.

Similar reports reaching from South Kashmir said that several areas of Pulwama and Shopain also observed shutdown against the killing of trio who according to family had no association with any militant group.

Notably on December 30, 2020 Joint forces of Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police had claimed killing of three militants in an encounter in Lawaypora area of Srinagar district. (KNS)
