Srinagar, May 12 (KNS): PDP youth Secretary Arif Laigaroo has expressed deep concern over sky rocketing of prices of essential commodities,
He said chicken being sold at Rs 160 a kg, mutton more than Rs 600 a kilo.
According to statement issued to KNS, Laigaroo said that the officials of Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Department are nowhere in sight and people are facing lot of problems.
Youth secretary said besides, chicken and meat, vegetables , fruit etc are being sold to exorbitant rates.
The PDP leader said that authorities are giving a free hand to profiteers and shopkeepers indulging in overpricing.
He said that authorities must ensure there is regular supply of eatables across the valley and prices are checked regularly. (KNS)
