Srinagar July 02:(KNS) Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Thursday has expressed profound grief over the tragic incident in Kupwara in which four people lost their lives while cleaning a well in the district.

Kadfeen in a statement issued to KNS, termed the incident heart wrenching and most unfortunate. He said that the safety of the labour class in Jammu and Kashmir has become a least priority for the authorities due to which precious lives are lost and the poor families lose their lone breadwinners quite often. He said that the tragic incident in Kupwara is one such example of how the poor labourers are exposed to extreme hardships and are compelled to put their lives at risk for few bucks. “The labour laws have unfortunately gone for a toss in Kashmir due to which these downtrodden have been bearing the brunt of the apathy. The need of the hour is that proper protection is given to these labourers and their genuine grievances aren’t left unaddressed.”

Expressing solidarity with the families of the bereaved, Kadfeen has demanded ex- gratia for the next kin of the victims without any delay.(KNS)
