Kulgam villagers protest against PDD; demands supply as per schedule

Kulgam, Dec 05 (KNS): Scores of residents of Frisal village of south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday protested against Power Development Department (PDD) over erratic power supply in the area and demanded the supply as per curtailment schedule.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the residents while daring the bone chilling cold blocked Frisal - Bijbehara road for hours and were shouting anti-PDD slogans. The protest at the occasion halted vehicular movement on the stretch.

The protestors alleged that the villagers have been fed up from long power cuts which affected the lives of the local people badly. They said the claims made by PDD higher ups about power supply in winters has proven haox.

"Every day the area witnesses maximum hours of power cuts which is extra from the curtailment schedule", protestors alleged.

They also alleged that the PDD has violated its curtailment schedule and is leaving the area powerless as per its will.

"Besides the education of students has badly suffered, there are several Covd19 patients kept at home quarantine who need an uninterrupted oxygen supply which is impossible in messy power cuts", they said.

Meanwhile the concern Tehsildar Ghulam Rasool along with a senior official of PDD visited the spot and assured protestors that their demands will be taken into consideration after which protestors dispersed off peacefully. (KNS)
