September 12: Kulgam police solved a theft case and recovered stolen property worth lakhs from their possession.

Police Station Yaripora recieved a written complaint to the effect that, on 29/08/2020, some unknown Burglars barged into the residential house of Maroofa Akhter resident of Kanjikulla Yaripora and have stolen cash and gold ornaments.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 119/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in police Station Yaripora and further investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, a team led by SHO Yaripora was constituted and strenuous efforts generated a credible information regarding the Burglars and apprehended the suspects identified as Aquib Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Kanjikulla Yaripora Kulgam, Umer Yaqoob Naik son of Mohd Yaqoob Naik resident of Khaloora Kulgam. During investigation, it was learnt that they were involved in the commission of said crime.

Officers investigating the case have identified one more accused namely Nafeez Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ramzan Dar resident of Brazloo Jageer, who buys the stolen property from the said burglars.

Stolen property including golden ornaments worth lakhs and cash amount of Rs 17,000 were also recovered from their possession.

All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Further investigation of the case is in progress and more recoveries are expected.

Police Kulgam assures the general public that every possible step will be taken to safeguard the life, property, and honour of its community members.
