Kulgam August 11:(KNS) Continuing its drive against drug dealings and to root out the menace of drugs, Police have arrested three notorious drug peddlers from Kulgam and launched bung destruction drive in Srinagar.

On a specific information generated by Kulgam police regarding drug suppliers, a police party from PP Mirbazar headed by DO Mirbazar established a checkpoint at Mirbazar Nipora Qazigund during intervening night of 10/11 August. Officers at the checkpoint intercepted a Swift car bearing registration No.JK13D- 0985 with three persons on board.

During checking, officers were able to recover poppy straw concealed in three bags from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. Vehicle involved in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No.222/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.

In Srinagar, Police along with Excise Department have destroyed wild bung in Panthachowk area.

The team under the supervision of SDPO Panthachowk and SHO Panthachowk along with Excise Department have destroyed wild bung in Panthachowk area of Srinagar.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
