Kulgam Police arrests 02 drug peddlers; Psychotropic substances recovered

Srinagar February 07 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered psychotropic substances and cash amount of ?3200 from their possession.

As per the statement issued to KNS, Officers at a checkpoint established at village Kharpora intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Ghulam Mohd War resident of Arwani Bijebhara & Waseem Ahmad Tantray resident of Kujjar Frisal. During checking, officers were able to recover psychotropic substance (10 bottles of Chlorpheniramine Melate and Codeine Phosphate) and cash amount of ?3200 from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 06/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Yaripora and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.(KNS)
