Kulgam November 03: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Kulgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Killam Kulgam intercepted a vehicle Alto 800 bearing registration number JK22-7447 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Shan son of Abdul Rehman Shan resident of Nowpora and Shabir Ahmad Shan son of Mohammad Akbar Shan resident of Pati Akhran Nowpora. During checking, officers were able to recover 09 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Devsar where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 117/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Devsar and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
