KTA Accused unnecessarily harassing traders in North Kashmir Commissioner State Tax assured relief


Srinagar ,21 August (KNS): Kashmir Trade Alliance raised the issue of harassment of traders by the GST enforcement wing of the tax department in North Kashmir with the Commissioner State Tax, during which they demanded an immediate end to the harassment of traders.
Trade Alliance President Ajaz Shahdhar on Friday took up the matter with the commissioner State Tax department PK Bhatt, during which he was told that the economic woes of the past one year have broken the backs of traders and industrialists.
In a statement issued to KNS, He said Traders were expecting on holding the hands by administration of these traders, but the same administration is targeting the traders by coming up with new excuses. Shahdhar said that the enforcement wing of the tax department has been wreaking havoc in North Kashmir for the past several days, and vehicles loaded with merchandise have been wreaking havoc., he said As a result of the lockdown, very little transport is already visible on the roads, and freight transport is available to transport goods with great difficulty. The goods could not reach the warehouses and shops.
president Kashmir Trade Alliance said that they are not against transparency nor want to interfere in the affairs of the tax department. Ajaz Shahdhar demanded from the administration to immediately stop harassing the traders on the pretext of taxes, receipts and invoices. State Tax Commissioner PK Bhatt assured them that genuine traders and the registered dealers will not be put to task in these difficult times. He said that in fact this is an information campaign, which will only benefit the traders. Shahdhar thanked the commissioner for his consultative intervention. (KNS)
