Srinagar December 29:(KNS) Senior Vice President Jammu and Kashmir People's Conference and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the verdict of the recent DDC elections in Kashmir has once again proved that Kashmiris stand for secularism and will never allow communalism to grow in J&K especially in valley.

In a statement to KNS He said the 99 percent muslim Majority of Rafiabad have voted for a minority girl from Sikh community Smt. Parmeet Kaur as their representative which shows what Kashmiriyat is all about. "Kashmiris have been tested several times in the history and they have everytime held high the flag of secularism and communal harmony.
Electing Smt. Parmeet Kaur as DDC member from Rafiabad on the ticket of People's Confrence shows determination of the people that they can go to any extent to fight communal forces and will leave no stone unturned in defeating their evil designs to damage communal harmony in J&K.

Abdul Gani Vakil was addressing meetings of celebration for the victory of Smt.Parmeet Kaur in Hachepora, Dugripora and Kangroosa in Rafiabad.

Vakil thanked the people of Rafiabad for electing a Sikh girl Smt. Parmeet Kaur as their representative in the recently concluded DDC polls.

This should serve as an inspiration for the rest of India to stand for secularism and shun communalism
as the prosperity is in secularism. Communalism leads to destruction," Vakil added.

While addressing the meetings DCC member Smt. Parmeet Kaur thanked voters for her victory and assured that she will make every effort and will take immediate steps to repair the roads in worst condition and will reach out to the people to listen their grievances and will work for the development with dedication, honesty and integrity.(KNS)
