Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNS): Dr Sheikh Shoaib, who is working as consultant psychiatrist in JLNM hospital Srinagar, has been awarded the World Psychiatrist Fellowship Award 2021 by the World Psychiatric Association.

World Psychiatric Association is an international umbrella organization of psychiatric societies.

As per details available with Kashmir News Service (KNS) Dr Shoaib has been awarded the WPA fellowship award by the World Congress on Psychiatry which has brought laurels to Directorate of Health Services Kashmir. 

This is the highest award for Early Career Psychiatrists, the assessment is done on the basis of research and academic standing. 

Dr Shoaib is the first doctor being awarded from Kashmir who is working with the directorate.

As per the details the panel for his selection included Dr Norman Sartorius NYU, Dr Danuta Wasserman Karolinska University, Dr Afzal Javed WPA President and Dr Peter Mazaroff. 

This is the second international award Dr Sheikh has received. Earlier in 2019, he was awarded the young psychiatrist award for best oral presentation at the 2020 Taiwanese conference. 

He has published scores of publications in national and international journals. (KNS)
