Kashmir Trade bodies welcome economic package announced by LG Sinha

Srinagar, Sept 19 (KNS): Several trade bodies of Valley on Saturday welcomed the economic package for revival of UT’s ailing business sector announced by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and hoped Centre and UT Governments will not only stop here but come up with further backing.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Chairperson PHD Chamber of Commerce in Kashmir Mr. Mushtaq Chaya thanked LG Sinha for announcing economic package for the ailing business sector and hoped trade, business and tourism sector of Valley will be soon revived with concrete and considerable measures.
“We are highly thankful to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Ji for this pro-business announcement. We met him after he assumed charge of his office and gave us patient hearing. We raked up manifold issues pertaining to trade and business which were badly hit since last year”, Chaya said.
He added we were hopeful LG Sinha will address the genuine concerns of ours and he did it despite passing off a year now. “Let we hope the wrecked trade and business sectors will be revived with further concrete efforts”, Chaya said.
President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industries (KCCI) Sheikh Ashiq appreciated the move and said our demand was addressed in a time bound.
“It is really appreciable step taken by LG Sinha. As we know the last fourteen months of unprecedented situation the traders have gone through. Today’s announcement is a beginning according to LG Sinha. We hope more will come for rejuvenation of ruined business sector of Valley”, Ashiq told KNS.
“The announcement was much needed. We appreciate the role of Advisor to LG Mr. KK Sharma and Financial Commissioner Arun Kumar Mehta who put their efforts to ensure this economic package”, KCCI President added.
Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) Chairman Mohammad Yaseen Khan also welcomed the announcement.
“This is a good beginning as LG promised more to come in near future. A week ago when we met him, he assured us and today he fulfilled his promise”, Khan told KNS, adding there are manifold problems pertaining to traders which too needs to be addressed.
Earlier Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced a mega-economic package of Rs 1350 Cr for reviving the ailing business sector of the Union Territory stating that “this was just a beginning and much more was in the offing”. He also said the Government was mulling a “structured package” for transporters, drivers, auto-drivers, house boat owners and shikara wallas. (KNS)
