JKPCC chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir , leaders, workers detained in Rajouri

Srinagar March 30, (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, was detained by police on Tuesday along with many other party leaders during a protest in Rajouri district.Mir along with other party leaders and workers carried out a protest march against what they called ‘tax terrorism’ and rising fuel prices.

The protest was held at district headquarters in which former cabinet minister Raman Bhalla, party’s chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, district president Shabir Ah Khan and other party leaders and workers participated.

 Congress leaders and workers started their rally from Children’s Park and were scheduled to stage a sit-in at Gujjar Mandi. However, police personnel stopped the march at Dak Bungalow gate, resulting in a minor confrontation between protesters and cops.

Meanwhile,  JKPCC chief GA Mir along with several party workers and leaders were detained and were shifted to Police Lines.

“We are on protest against tax terrorism and rising fuel prices,but the government is trying to crush our voice with the help of police,” Mir said.(KNS)
