Srinagar, June 21 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum led by Abdul Qayoom wani on Sunday said that they are aghast over the decision of Govt regarding identifying 183 Places in J&K including 67 in the Kashmir Valley for Opening of Liquor Shops. The statement issued by the Forum reads that Kashmir is a Muslim Majority region where drinking of Liquor is Prohibited in religion, hence sale of liquor can't be permitted in any way.

In a statement issued to KNS reads, Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has expressed its serious concern over the already growing menace of drug addiction corruption and Liquor menace in Jammu and Kashmir which it said was eating up the basic morale of Our society and was the root cause of most of the social evils all over J&K. The Chairman of the newly formed Forum, JKCSF, Abdul Qayoom Wani (Former EJAC President) in a statement termed the situation as more dangerous in the present times with regard to employment, fun, recreation and even the religious gatherings have shrunk amid the COVID-19 globally and the contemporary situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Wani said youth largely deviated towards drug addiction which in no way is a good sign for our new generation.

Wani expressed anguish over the menace of corruption being in vogue in Jammu and Kashmir in its various forms which has deprived these qualified youth to get benefitted from the various schemes as to start their private enterprises. The corruption menace has closed all doors for these qualified youth.

JKCSF, Chairman envisaged upon the stakeholders of entire State as well as the NGOs to come forward with the outstanding strategies to fight against the drug and corruption menace. Wani has appealed Parents, Masjid Committees and Senior Citizens to take Practical Measures against drug addiction, Liquor sale besides corruption which is the mother of all evils. In the statement issued by J&K Civil Society Forum, Wani assured that the Forum will Practically work on ground against all the evils in the society. He has said that the Forum believes that Action Speaks Louder than Words.
Wani said that our all Civil Society Leaders, Executive members and well wishers have firm belief to start a result oriented struggle on all fronts in the larger interest of society keeping in view the emotions and aspirations of people of jammu and kashmir.

In the statement issued by the JKCSF, Wani has strongly Condemned Govt's move regarding identifying 67 locations for liquor sale in Kashmir. Wani has warned Govt of Jammu and kashmir that if any such development is seen on Ground, J&K Civil Society Forum will strongly react and will not allow sale of Liquor in Kashmir Valley in particular and jammu and kashmir in general . Wani termed this statement of Govt disastrous for the people of Kashmir in general and future generations in particular.
Wani showed serious resentment against it. According to the Chairman of the Forum, there used to be only one Shop of Liquor in Sonwar area of Srinagar. People have always showed their anger against that single shop, now when liquor will be sold at 67 Places, government should imagine how will the entire society react. Wani's statement mentions that Providing Licenses to the Liquor will destroy the bright future of our youngsters including our daughters. Wani said that Government should know that Kashmir is the Land of Spiritual Guides (Peer Waer) where we will not allow sale of Liquor at any cost.

As the Order regarding sale of Liquor went viral on Social Media, J&K Civil Society Forum Chairman Abdul Qayoom wani immediately called a Video Meet of Forum Members.
