People suffering for want of basic amenities: Muntazir Mohi-u-Din

Srinagar, June 17 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) leader Muntazir Mohi-u-Din on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the plight of inhabitants of Budgam district who are suffering for want of basic amenities.

In a statement issued to KNS, Mohi-u-Din said that almost all main roads and connecting links in areas like Mamath to Handjan, Razven to Nagrad Khah, Chhoon to Kurhama Ratni Pora, Nasrulla Pora to Wadwan via Garend, Potli Bagh to Dadina, Chanda Pora to Nendvend Pora Surnal, Hawker Mula to Srinagar and Chhoon to Baagender Aram Pora are in complete dilapidated condition.

“Commuters in these areas are facing a lot of inconvenience while traveling on these roads which have now become barely motorable. There are no surface drains on these roads and deep ditches and potholes cause frequent accidents in these areas,” the JKAP leader remarked.

Similarly, he said the areas like Ompora, Patay Angan, Nendvend Pora, Sarnal, Chattabug, Wahabpora, Chattabugh, Chak Wazir Pora etc are suffering because of drinking water scarcity. “Most of the people, especially women folk in areas of both Budgam as well as Khan Saheb constituencies are supposed to travel long distances to fetch drinking water as the taps run dry in these areas. The PHE department seems in deep slumber and is least bothered to mitigate the sufferings of people in these areas,” he added.

Mohi-u-Din said almost all parts especially rural areas in district Budgam remain reeled under perpetual darkness due to frequent electricity curtailment. “Not only the electricity plays hide and seek in villages like Narakara, Pompora, Razven, Gotapora, Churapora, Chowdhary Bagh, Chak Kalay Khan, Galwanpora, Soibugh, Sholipora, Pymas, Kargam Palpora, Hee Wudura, Dhar Munh, etc but the lack of PDD infrastructure like conductor wires, poles and other essential items have made the life of people hellish. Because of the poor electricity supply, the student community in these areas is the worst hit,” he remarked.

He appealed to the divisional commissioner Kashmir to intervene into the matter and issue necessary orders to the district administration in order to mitigate the sufferings of inhabitants of Budgam district. “People of district Budgam including Khan Sahib Constituency feel neglected by the officers in district administration who seem to be toeing to a particular political line and are apparently working on the whims of their patrons,” the JKAP leader opined.
