J&K RTI Foundation seeks probe , demands compensation for persons injured in Tosamaidan blast

Srinagar, May 26 (KNS): J&K RTI Foundation has questioned the government for it's decision on declaring Tosaimadan as free to public movements without taking proper clearance measures in the area. It was for the second time since 2016 (when Tosamaidan was set free for public) that an unburst shell exploded in the area and caused injuries.
As Chairman of J&K RTI Foundation, Engineer Irfan expressed deep condolences from the whole team to the person injured in the blast who is brother-in-law of it's Spokesperson also. Whole team prays for the quick recovery of the injured and demanded compensation for him.
According to statement issued to KNS "The picturesque Tosa Maidan meadow in Budgam district, vacated by army in 2014, was officially opened to public by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in 2016. Blasts happened in the area in 2018 and now today, which raises a question mark on the government and the organizations declaring it a safe tourist destination to attract public. Peoples' lives are more important and hence government must clear TosaMaidan of these unburst shells before any further casualties occur. The victims must be compensated as soon as possible", Engineer Irfan added.
"There are many people including some organizations visiting TosaMaidan especially because of it's serenity and beautiful plains. Any activity in the area without precautions may lead to such incidents. Government must clear Tosamaidan and halt any activity there till it is safe for public visits", said Sajad RTI who is District Coordinator Budgam
"Our spokesperson and member Sheikh Maqbool whose relative is also injured because if the blast questions, how was this shell there when Tosamaidan has already been declared free? A probe must be ordered as soon as possible and the victims must be compensated," said State Coordinator of J&K RTI Foundation Riyaz Ahmad. (KNS)
