Says government unresponsive to woes of people, failed people in their hour of need

Srinagar, 09 June (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Tuesday castigated J&K administration for its abject failure in managing the affairs on ground saying that J&K is beset with chaos, unaccountability, administrative and development deficit.
Every single pivotal sector of economy, the industries, the traders, the agriculturists of all hues and people engaged in organized and unorganized labor have taken a beating following the measures as were taken on 5th of August last year, the Party functionaries observed in a meeting presided over by Provincial Vice President Muhammad Syed Akhoon at Party Headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. Among others provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, Peer Afaq Ahmed, Ahsan Pardesi and Syed Tauqeer attended the meet.
In a joint statement to KNS, the party functionaries said that the government has failed the people in their hour of need. “Insensitive would be a mild word to describe the sheer ineffectiveness of the present ruling dispensation towards the predicaments the people of J&K, in particular the people of Kashmir are going through. There is no semblance of good governance, accountability on ground. The civil and police officials have become law unto themselves,” they observed.
“Work on all major projects has been thrown to the wind. The future of youth has been put into a lurch; no major employment drive was carried out since 2015. Nothing is being done to create more avenues for the unemployed youth of J&k in terms of creating safer areas to pursue their vocations. The development prospects of urban conglomerates present a grimy tale of neglect. If the situation is this horrible in cities, it is no rocket science to ascertain what will be the situation in rural areas. Prices are skyrocketing, various edibles including mutton have become dearer. The concerned authorities are oddly numb to the issues faced by the people,” they stated.
“ Measures as were taken on the 5th of August last year have thrown plethora of challenges at people of J&K; the ineffective malgovernance of airdropped oligarchy, coupled with the brewing disenchantment among the unemployed youth has been the sine qua non of the measures taken on 5th of august last year,” they added.
While expressing concern over the state of affairs in J&K the functionaries said, “administrative apathy, development inertia has taken a firm root in J&K. The avenues of employment for youth have shrunk and the future prospects also look gloomy in view of new domicile policy. The measures have had a cataclysmic effect on the fate of small businesses, tourism industry, handicraft sector and agriculture as well. The losses to industry and agriculture are immense.” (KNS)
