Irrigation kanals turn dry in Karnah village after PaK admin diverts water supply

Karnah, June 3 (KNS): The villagers of Satpora in Border town Karnah on Wednesday is facing acute shortage of water for irrigation after PaK adminstration almost chocked the water supply to this ireaa from Nala Kajinag There is no official mechanism to resolve the dispute. Many years ago it was resolved by army officers of the both sides informally.
Locals said due to strained relations between the India and Pakistan, even the informal mechanism is in in limbo.
The sarpanch of the village said, this year they sought to resolve the issue informaly but the people on the other side didn't respond positively.
Though Indian army under project sadbhavna had installed a water pump few years back but now it has turned non-functional.
The concerned Assistant engineer, Zahoor Ahmad said, the army had installed the plastic pipes which were then replaced by iron pipes by the PHE and the irrigation department.

The satpora village has 500 acres irrigatable land and lies in the catchment area of Nala krajina, a tributary of the krishan ganga.
