Intimidation of Gujjar Bakerwal community unfortunate, unacceptable. JKPCC

Srinagar March 29 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today expressed serious concern over the harassment of Khanabodosh Gujjar and Bakerwal community by goons enroute from Kathua to Anantnag District.


As per the statement issued to kashmir news service(KNS), JKPCC urged the Govt to order probe into the matter and initiate strict action against the goons, besides ensuring hasslefree movement of community, alongwith livestock.


In a statement, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed serious concern over the reported intimidation of Khanabodosh Gujjar Bakerwal community by goons at Dinga Amb, Ramkote in Kathua district and many other places enroute from Kathua to Anantnag District.


The community members were not being allowed to carry their live stocks to Kashmir by goons and threatened of consequences, as reported, JKPCC said.


JKPCC said the representatives of the community have already applied for Dera permission to DC Kathua on March 28, ironically, the same has not been granted to them, as a result, they were forced to travel by foot towards Anantnag district alongwith their livestock.


The members of the community were being stopped and beaten by goons, not allowed to travel, which is a matter of grave concern, should be probed JKPCC added and termed the harassment of the community as unfortunate and unacceptable.


The Party has urged the Govt to probe the matter and initiate strict action against the goons, besides ensuring hassle-free movement of the community from Kathua to Anatnag and other area in J&K, PCC added.(KNS)
