Infiltration bid foiled in Nowgam Sector, two militants killed: Army

Srinagar, July 11 (KNS): Army on Saturday claimed to have foiled fresh infiltration bid in Nowgam sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in which two militants have been killed.
Defense sources told KNS that two militants were killed at LoC in TMG sector of Handwara. They said militants while trying to sneak into this part of LoC were challenged however they resorted to indiscriminate fire upon Army triggering an exchange of fire.
Sources added that during the trade of fire, two militants were neutralized.
They added bodies of slain militants have been recovered from the scene along with two AK-47 rifles and other incriminating material however the identification and association of killed militants is being ascertained.
Meanwhile soon after the incident, army launched search operation in the area which was continued till last reports came in.
Notably on June 30, Army claimed similar infiltration bid foiled in frontier district of Kupwara. (KNS)
