Ganderbal, May 15 (KNS): Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Tuesday said the good roads were necessary for enhancement of economic activity in the state. He was speaking during a meeting conducted for reviewing the progress of works under roads and bridges sector in his constituency here.Underlining the importance of better road connectivity and linking of remote areas with main highways important ingredient for socio-economic upliftment of people, the Chief Minister asked the concerned departments to ensure timely completion of works and judicious expenditure of funds. He said the development of areas is directly related to the better road connectivity. “Good roads enhance economic activities and make areas accessible to all round development”, he added.The District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Ahmad Mir, gave details of various schemes and presented the resume of status of work on various projects. Chief Engineer R&B, Chief Engineer PMGSY, Managing Director JKPCC and other officers were also present in the meeting.The Chief Minister later met various deputations and interacted with National Conference party workers from the area.
