Independent candidate wins DDC chairperson post in Budgam 

 
Srinagar, Feb 08 (KNS): Nazi Ahmad Khan, an independent candidate on Monday won the district development council chairperson election in Budgam district through a draw of lots after a tie between him and his rival candidate. 

Sources told news agency KNS that all the 14 DDC members  participated in the election process of chairman and vice chairman of DDC Budgam today after an election meeting was called by the district election officer.

They said that there was a tie between Nazir Ahmad Khan and Abdul Ahad Dar who were contesting for the chairperson post of DDC Budgam after both of them secured 7 votes each. 

"Later, a draw of lots was held in which Nazir Ahmad Khan was declared as winner, thereby elected as chairperson of DDC Budgam," they said.

Meanwhile, Nazir Ahmad Jahara was elected as vice-chairperson of DDC Budgam after he secured nine votes against his rival candidate Nisar Ahmad Sheikh who got five 05 votes.

Later district panchayat election officer administered oath to both chairperson and vice-chairperson. (KNS)
