Covid 19 has played negative role in day to day lives of children caged in their homes. As the increased number of children are in high risk of depression .So far reports have pointed to the fact that children where largely held in reserve from the complications of the noval corona virus and they are developing serious illness from the diseases
The covid 19 pandemic and unprecedented control measures to prevent its spread have disrupted nearly every aspect of children’s lives their health, development, learning behavior and their families economic, security including protection from violence and abuse. Due to lockdown, many children have had no physical access to friends peers, schoolmates and relatives for over seven months limited or no opportunity for outdoor play and socialization may also impact children adversely making them easily bored, angry and frustrated. as the number of depressed patients increase every day.
Although many are active on mobile phones and virtually committed, there is higher possibility that they will be engrossed in social media and online entertainment. while consulting a psychiatrist posted at district hospital kulgam Dr. Himayoun said “that children develop high risk of anxities and depression is due to the misinformation. But parents should educate their budding kids at their home that what the pandemic is all about, instead of panic they should help their wards to follow all the sop’s which are given by WHO”
Parents ,pediatricians, psychologists, social workers, hospital authorities, governmental organizations have important role to play to mitigate the ill effects of covid 19 on children .While providing the basic amenities, social security, medical care and minimize the educational inequalities among the children of our society.
