Asks growers to be in touch with guidance programs run by Radio, DoorDarshan

Srinagar, May 05 (KNS): Director Horticulture Kashmir Aijaz Ahmad Bhat Tuesday informed fruit growers to avail facilities and guidance from officials on helpline established by the department in wake of lockdown situation. He said fruit growers should be in touch with programs run by Radio and DoorDarshan for improving the knowledge of production.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Bhat said informed Valley based fruit growers that the department has established special helpline in wake of lockdown restriction with an aim to provide guidance to farmers. “Fruit growers should avail facilities and guidance from officials on helpline established by the department in wake of pandemic situation”, he said.
He said the aim of establishing helpline is to aware fruit growers how to use fertilizers and other chemicals at a time when they can’t visit offices for guidance.
Bhat said the department is working for the benefit of farmers so that there hardships are minimized. “We are here for guiding and facilitating farmers so that there hardships will be eased and minimized”, he said.
He added that both central and state governments took serious efforts to ease out the movement of farmers in pandemic situation so that destruction of crop could be saved. “Even in lockdown, the department took up the issue of farmer’s movement with concern Deputy Commissioners and others to ease out the movement of farmers”, he said.
Bhat said that the department is issuing advisories regularly for farmers so that they will be guided in right direction. “We often issues advisories for the benefit of farmers. Even programs are being broadcasted from Radio and DoorDarshan. I appeal farmers to be in touch with these programs aimed for their benefit”, he said.
He appealed farmers to be in close touch with horticulture officers and also avail guidance on Deputy Director’s WhatsApp number 9622623996 in case of any exigency.
He advised farmers whose apple crop is yet to touch the mark, to use 50 percent of Trifloxystrobin 25% plus Tebuconazole 50% with 100 liters of water and spray over crop. (KNS)
