Hokersar gunfight: “Only fair, transparent probe will satisfy families”: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Jan 04 (KNS): Former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that only a fair and transparent probe will satisfy the families who lost their loved ones in Hokersar encounter.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Omar said “It is very important that the probe in to this encounter be concluded at the earliest. Only a fair & transparent probe, already promised by @manojsinha_ , will satisfy the families who have lost their loved ones who they insist were innocent”.
Earlier the family members of two of the three youth killed in a “gunfight” staged a protest in Srinagar’s Press Enclave demanding justice and bodies of the slain who have been buried in central Kashmir’s Sonamarg.
Carrying placards and shouting slogans, the wailing family members said that they wanted the bodies of their kin. “Just give me the body of my child. I want justice, not money, I want the body of my son. Whom should I ask? Don’t these people of India listen?” Mushtaq Wani, the father of the 16-year-old, Ather Wani told reporters.
“The LG has promised a fair & speedy probe in to this encounter when @JKNC_ Lok sabha member @masoodi_hasnain spoke to him about it recently. In the interim we hope the LG will order the handing over of the bodies to the families”, Omar said in another tweet. (KNS)
