Baramulla September 01:(KNS) On the suspicious movement of suspected persons detected along the Line of Control in Rampur Sector, Baramulla district. Movement was from a village close to the LoC and the suspects had crossed into Indian territory. Their move was kept under constant surveillance.
Due to adverse terrain, thick foliage and bad weather conditions alert sounded for likely infiltration attempt. Surveillance Grid was beefed up across the area,an Ambushes were re-sited to thwart any such attempt. Surveillance continued through the night.
Subsequently, on 31 Aug at approx 0500h, search of the area carried out. After extensive search of seven hours, a huge and fresh cache of arms/ammunition were recovered from well concealed locations in 2 hideouts in Rampur Sector.
Arms recovery comprises Five AK Series Rifles (along with six magazines & two sealed boxes with 1254 rounds of AK ammunition), Six pistols (with Nine magazines & Six rounds), Twenty one grenades, Two UBGL grenades & Two Kenwood Radio sets.(KNS)
