Handwara, June 19 (KNS): A family from Khuri Mawer in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Friday held a silent protest against authorities who failed to provide assistance as the lone bread earner electrocuted and died lst year.

According to Kashmir News service (KNS) correspondent, the family of Late Manzoor Ahmad Khan of Khuri Mawer staged a silent protest against the apethetic behavior of authorities who didn't approve financial assistance to the family so far. The protestig family demanded ex-gratia relief.

Family members told KNS that it has been more than a year since their lone bread earner died of electric shock on November 20, 2019 but so far no help has been done to them by the administration.

They alleged despite visiting the concern office repeatedly, officials didn't pay heed to their pleas.

Pertinently Late Manzoor Ahmad was survived by three daughters and wife who are hoping that administration sooner or later will provide them ex-gratia. Presently there is no earning hand in the family.

An official of the PDD division Handwara said that they have forwarded the documents of the family to higher ups.

However BDC Mawer contested the claim of the PDD officials and said the officials are resorting to lies as no document has been forwarded by the department.

Meanwhile family reiterated its appeal to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg for timely intervention into the matter. (KNS)
