Haji Farooq Appeals Lt. Governor to look the issues faced by Kupwara People

Srinagar, May 18(KNS): congress leader and District President Congress Committee Kupwara, Haji Farooq Mir, implores the LG administration to acknowledge the various issues and serious difficulties faced by people of district Kupwara on priority.

The dilapidated condition of our roads, including main roads, and inner link roads, is a great concern, and irks people on daily basis, of Block Wavoora, Khurhama, Lalpora, Sogam, Kalaroos,
Haihama and Machil.

A statement issued to KNS Haji Farooq Mir urges the district administration, to take advantage of the
current lockdown, and initiate for road resurfacing and renewing of assembly segment 03-Lolab.
The electricity infrastructure in Lolab valley is in ruins that cannot sustain even a little
snowfall/rainfall. It generally takes several weeks to restore the electricity after a light snowfall in
winter and the high tension wires at places is supported by trees, wooden poles and ordinary
structures. The health infrastructure of the district Kupwara is in shambles and lacks the very basic
facilities, including essential equipment’s, drugs, ambulances, doctors, infrastructure, funds that
costs patients life and health. The rate of unemployment has increased manifold in the district
Kupwara, over couple of years related to political instability and the continued
lockdowns/shutdowns.
Many people till date have not been paid the MNREGA wages for over
years. The current govt. have been very discriminatory in development from consecutive last six
years, as most of the infrastructure related projects were framed in UPA I & UPA II.
The total lockdown has induced economic depression and starvation to daily wage earners, need
based, Asha workers, Anganwadi, shopkeepers, small traders, and contractual employee,
agriculture and horticulture laborers and farmers that forms the significant percentile of the district.
Haji Farooq Mir, demands a relief package must be initiate from LG administration for these
distressed people, to mitigate the impact of rising unemployment, considerable difficulties and economic instability.
The commercial transport vehicle loans, start-up loans and small scale industry loans should be put off or on hold till curbs are lifted and instead a package of economic support measures should be initiated. In view of the agricultural transplanting season, please ensure the adequate irrigation facilities and make provisions for free fertilizers, agricultural equipment’s for farmers. Some BPL people have been falsely put in to APL category, and Haji Farooq requests district administration to immediately verify, and do justice with these people. The horticulture sector forms the backbone
of JK economy and deserves a prudent attention from administration. Several ready to harvest
fruits, including cherry, strawberry, plums etc. needs facilitation and transport facility.(KNS)
