Srinagar, May 02 (KNS): Gunfight rages between government forces and militants in north Kashmir’s Handwara town on Saturday afternoon.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), joint team of 21 RR, 09 Para, 92 Bn CRPF  and SOG of J&K Police launched a Cordon & Search Operation (CASO) on special inputs about the presence of militants in Wadder Bala area of Rajwar Handwara.

“Encounter has started at Chanjmullah area of Handwara.

 Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow”, Kashmir Zone Police confirmed on its twitter handler. 

However a top police official confirmed KNS that encounter has been started in the area.
