Srinagar, May 19:(KNS) Gunfight today broke out between militants and goverment forces in Nawakadal area of Srinagar.

Reports said that a joint team of forces launched cordon search operation in Nawakadal after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed to KNS about the encounter.
