GRS employees stages protest in Langate, demands regularization of services

Srinagar, Sep 08 (KNS): The Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) contractual employees recruited under MGNAREGA, today held a protest in Langate area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and were demanding regularization of their services at the earliest.
According to Kashmir News Service correspondent, the contractual employees were assembled outside the BDO office and were holding play cards, demanding the job security , regularization. These highly qualified youth have been recruited on contractual basis 14 years ago, now demanding job security but till date have not been regularized. Around 100 number of GRS contractual employees from different blocks, including Qaziabad, Qalamabad and Langate have gathered in front of BDO office Langate.
A protester, M Asharf Malik, GRS contractual employee, told to KNS, that I have been recruited 13 years before. We are on protest from last 22 days. We have been ignored time and again, we want the current administration to absorb us fully. Despite working hard that too in the pandemic. We have been given different assignments to fight Covid19, we have worked like other frontline workers, but in return we got nothing.
The other protester said, we are going through a truma, we are urging LG administration to pay attention to our cries. Our protesters are continue till the administration is not paying any attention to us, he added.
The employees under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) have been demanding the government to enhance their basic salary, regularizing and frame job policy for them. (KNS)
