Green J&K Drive Programme inaugurated by LG at Baramulla


Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday inaugurated Green J&K drive- winter planting programme in North Kashmir on the occasion of “My Town My Pride” at Baramulla.

Under Green J&K drive, a total number of 7.9 lakh plants of conifers, broadleaved species including Chinar, fruit plants and other ornamental plants shall be planted in north Kashmir in Baramulla and Kupwara districts during the current fiscal year, said Irfan Rasool Conservator of Forests. There are multiple afforestation schemes in operation such as CAMPA, CAPEX etc for carrying out afforestation programms in J&K. Forest department has established various departmental nurseries in all territorial divisions to produce and supply the good quality planting material.


Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P. K .Pole, District Development Commisioner Baramula Dr. G. N. Itoo, Director Genral IMPA (Visting Officer) Zubair Ahmad and other District Officers were present on the occasion.

DFO J V Forest Division Baramulla, Parvaiz Ahmad Wani appraised Honble LG about various initiatives taken up by the department to increase the green cover in district Baramula. LG directed to plant more and more trees by involving all stakeholders.(KNS)
