GDC Tangdar, under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan adopts Village in Karnah to address the development challenges

Srinagar, Aug 8,(KNS):- National Service scheme (NSS) unit of Govt degree college Tanghdar under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan undertook an initiative to adopt a village in order to connect the college with local community and to adress the development challenge through appropriate measure and technologies.
A statement issued by College to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said ' the team under the guidelines of college pricipal Dr. Satwant sing visited a tribal hamlet Jada of Kandi revenue village to adopt the hamlet along with whole revenue village Station house officer Karnah Waseem Ahmad also accompained with college team.
The team interacted with member of Panchayat Raj institution, senior citizen and licals of Jada village and listen to their thoughts, grievance and demands.
Nodal officer Unnat Bharat Abhiyan programme Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad informed the member of Panchayat Raj Institution and local resident about the mandate of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and assured them that all possible initiative will be taken up in consultation with the department that will be socially useful.
The team headed by the College Principal also visited middle school Jada for its formal adoptation it was decided that college will be provide infrastructure support to the school for its improvement and faculity of college will instruct with student from time to time for overall grooming and engagement of Student.
Notable Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Launched in 2014, is a programme being implemented by the Union HRD Ministry to develop rural areas by the involvement of higher educational institutions. As part of this programme, some colleges and universities are selected as the participating institutions to transfer technology and other inputs to the rural areas to bring in perceptible changes. The participating institutions also adopt some villages to develop them.(KNS)
