GDC Baramulla Reopens and Resume Classwork from February 15

 

Baramulla February 10:(KNS)   The Government Degree College, Baramulla shall reopen and resume classwork in traditional/physical/offline mode from February 15, 2021 in view of  UGC guidelines and J & K Union Territory Govt. Order No. 28-JK (HE) of 2021, Dated: 28/01/2021.

To start with, the classes will run with certain restrictions like maintaining social distancing, using hand sanitisers, thermal scanning and other facilities. To ensure the implementation and compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the college has taken a lead and a meeting of College Advisory Committee was called on February 02, 2021 wherein the following resolutions were passed:

That an Advisory Committee comprising of senior faculty members, NSS Program Officers, parents, and representatives from health and municipality committee shall be constituted to ascertain the observance of COVID-19 related SOPs.

Learning spaces like classrooms, labs, library, and hostel buildings shall be fumigated/disinfected intermittently. The hostel superintendents shall ensure all facilities including electricity, washrooms, and drinking water points are made functional/available to the students staying in the college hostels.

To avoid the transmission of COVID-19, wearing of face masks shall be mandatory for staff and students, and carrying hand sanitizers shall be encouraged. The students shall be screened using thermal guns at the entry and exit points of the college and those with COVID-19 symptoms shall be isolated and made to be clinically assessed before allowing them entry in the college.

Handwashing points shall be erected at all entry/exit points and in the periphery of Central Library and College canteen. All washrooms shall be made functional by effecting repairs wherever required.

Extracurricular activities involving the gathering of students and staff at one place shall not be allowed. Moreover, non-essential visitors and activities shall be strictly prohibited.

The college also intends to organize orientation programs to educate staff and students about COVID-19 precautions. Banners, placards, and posters shall be erected in and around the campus to ensure awareness and compliance of COVID-19 related SOPs.

In order to ascertain physical distancing, a scheme has been designed, according to which 2nd semester students shall be allowed to attend class on Monday and Tuesday, 3rd semester on Wednesday and Thursday, and 5th semester on Friday and Saturday, respectively. A detailed notification to this effect along with Do’s and Don’ts shall be made available at the college website (www.baramullcollege.edu.in) and official Facebook page of the college (www.facebook.com/GDCBLA), in due course of time.

The college resolves to make adequate arrangements to ensure the safety and health of students, faculty and staff.(KNS)
