GDC Baramulla Hosts Webinar on Career Options in J & K

Baramulla February 14(KNS):  District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC) Baramulla in collaboration with Psychological cum Career Counselling and Placement cell of Government Degree College, Baramulla organized an online/virtual webinar titled “Career Options in J & K” for Commerce and Management Studies students of the college on February 13, 2021. Mr. Shuja Mohammad, Employment Officer, District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC), Baramulla was the keynote speaker who spoke on a broad array of career options available to the students pursuing aforementioned courses/programs. Roughly, fifty (50) students and the faculty of Commerce and Management Studies participated in the webinar, which lasted for one hour.

At the outset, Prof. Mohamad Altaf Dar, Head, Department of Commerce and Management studies welcomed the guest speaker and participants of the program. He presented a very brief gist of the program and highlighted the need and relevance of conducting the webinars of this nature wherein students are oriented/counselled about the career options following their academic journey.

The speaker, Mr. Shuja Mohammad enlightened the participants about various career options available to pursue like ICAI, CS and other market-oriented courses fetching vast employability and industry demand. He particularly emphasised on need of start-up programmes as a career option and sustained government support to boost self-employment to curb the increasing threat of unemployment in the valley. His lecture was followed by a lively question/answer session, where in faculty as well as students posed a volley of questions vis-à-vis career options, specifically, in J&K. All the queries raised by participants were answered to the highest level of satisfaction.

Prof. Mohamad Altaf Dar maneuvered and conducted proceedings of the session and offered vote of thanks to reason out the session.(KNS)
