Srinagar Oct 29 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A.Mir today expressed serious concern over the hardships confronting people on account of  of basic facilities in Gurez valley of Bandipora District and urged the reach out to people for resolution of their problems.
G.A. Mir was on two days tour of Gurez Valley, where he met various delegations, who apprised him about the hardships confronting them on various counts especially electricity, road connective, lack of health infrastructure and other pressing issues.
JKPCC President G.A. Mir after completing two days tour of Gurez valley expressed dismay over the pathetic condition of people of people, who remain disconnected five six months from rest of the valley during the winter and urged the Govt to take measures for constructing a tunnel that will connect Gurez valley with Bandipora District.
After addressing a public meeting in Gurez, JKPCC President was apprised that 75% population of Gurez is dependent on transport business and during the winter they were not able to earn due to the closure of the road, which puts further burden on them, besides they have to pay double interest to the bank against the loan availed by them and sought waving off their loan interests.
Gurez Valley is situated on the high altitude and people of this backward area suffer enormously on all fronts, it was unfortunate that no one listens them, Mir said and urged the Govt to upgrade health infrastructure in Gurez and ensure electricity and other basic facilities to people, besides  emphasized the Govt to provide helicopter service during the winter months to the people of Gurez.
PCC President was accompanied by Vice President and Former MLA Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, DCC President Bandpora Imtiyaz Parray, Bandipora MC Chairman Basharat Najar, Mohd Ismail Lone and various other senior leaders.
Block Congress Committee Gurez led by JKPCC President also held protest against the lack of basic facilities in Gurez and submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister through Sub Divisional Magistrate seeking redressal of their urgent needs.(KNS)
