Fumigation drive held in Uri, locals applaud

Uri, July 17 (KNS): Municipal Committee Uri on Friday carried out a fumigation drive in several areas of the town to combat Covid-19 outbreak. It also appealed locals to strictly adhere upon guidelines including wearing of masks, maintaining social distance etc.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a team of 20 employees of sanitation wing of MC Uri initiated fumigation drive in several areas of Uri town including, Uri market, Lone Mohalla Uri, Sikh Mohalla Uri, Lagama and Court Complex Boniyar in sub-division Uri.
An official told KNS that besides spraying of anti-virus chemicals in residential areas, several shops were also fumigated.
“We want to ensure that all SOPs regarding fumigation and sanitation are followed in letter and spirit”, said In-charge Sanitation Drive MC Uri Aijaz Bhat.
He added that all employees were provided with required protective gear while sanitizing the areas. “All employees were provided hand gloves, face masks, coats etc to prevent from the assault of virus”, he said.
Meanwhile locals of the area hailed the move by MC Uri and hoped that it will come up with such steps in future as well to ensure anti-Covid-19 atmosphere in the area. (KNS)
