Srinagar,Dec 03 (KNS):Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum on Thursday asks the govt and other stakeholders to implement the provisions of Disabled Persons Act 2016 and its subsequent amendments in letter and spirit on ground to relieve these specially abled people of problems and the mental agony they have been facing in absence of the implementaions of the Act.

In a statement issued to KNS reads, JKCSF chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said that every year on the International Day of Disabled Persons these brothers and sisters and even children are seen protesting for their rights on streets which is a good sign neither for the govt nor for a sane society.
Wani said atleast these people should not need to come on streets to ask for their rights as govt should have fulfilled it already under the provisions of the Act.
Wani said that these people in Jammu and Kashmir have been demanding their rights for years now and the stakeholders are silent. Then what use of passing an Act which guarantees their rights. The right to live, earn, rehabilitation, infrastructure for them as per their need, education for disabled children and the dignity of life.
Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Form urges upon the govt as well as the NGOs to rise to the occasion and open ways for rendering services towards this aspect on priority. Wani appealed business class also that they should include the needs of disabled persons while constructing the shoping malls and other building infrastructure.
Wani urged the govt to undertake a survey of disabled people in Jammu and Kashmir to check the latest statistics.
Wani appealed the transporters that they should announce a special concession in fare for the disabled persons declared disabled by the Disability Act.(KNS).
