Kupwara, Nov 27 (KNS): The first phase of District Development Council (DDC) are under way across Jammu and Kashmir amid tight security arrangements put in place.

Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service said that the polling is going on at various places and large number of people were seen in queues who were waiting of their turn.

Similar queues were seen in border town Kupwara amid bone chilling cold where young voters had approached polling centers to cast their ballots.

Talking to KNS, People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) candidate for Territorial seat Kralpora Block Advocate Mir Musrat appealed people to come out and cast their votes for the development of the area.

However, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar told KNS all arrangements have been put in place to thwart any nefarious plan of anti-national elements. He added the voting is going on smoothly in the district. (KNS)
