Extension of PSA on mehbooba mufti against democracy and Democratic institutions: Rouf Bhat

Srinagar 10 May(KNS): Reacting on the extension of PSA on former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir miss Mehbooba mufti ,seniors leader of PDP Mr. Rouf Bhat has condemned the extension in strong words , it is disgusting to see an elected leader in jail just bcz she stood for the aspirations of the people of J&K .In a statement released for the press Mr. Bhat said that BJP govt can never change the demography of the state even by abrogation of article 370 or bifurcating the state into two union territories. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s detention under the Public Safety Act was extended by three months today by government, PDP senior leader Rouf bhat further said that Mehbooba mufti is a brave lady who’s resolve can’t be broken by jails she has the history of standing for the people of the erstwhile state. Bhat said that the government of India knows the fact that we can't purchase the sentiments of such brave lady who always stood from the side of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh to safeguard their rights and highlight there long pending demands ,Bhat said in a statement issued to KNS " This is the attack on democracy and the Democratic institutions that a leader has been arrested without any reason and is continuously under detention from August 5 when BJP-led Centre abrogated J&K’s special position and bifurcated it into two Union Territories." He said that it is very unfortunate that a vindictive approach has been adopted against the political leadership of Jammu and Kashmir, especially against our party president Mehbooba Mufti by government. He demanded it from the government of India to release her so that the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir can be raised with a political process instead of money and muscle power. Mr. Rouf Bhat appealed the intellectual people ,civil society ,lawyers body fellow politicians ,human rights activist and pro democracy institutions of India to raise for the incarcerated political leaders and activists of Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen democracy in the region.(KNS)
