Extending jurisdiction of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) to J&K, travesty of justice- AIP

Srinagar, May 01 (KNS): Expressing grave reservations over extension of central administrative tribunal’s jurisdiction to Jammu and Kashmir, Awami Itehad Party today in a statement castigated BJP for its parochial, anti-people policies. Questioning timing as well as intent behind the order, party top brass termed it yet another calamitous move in a string of recently passed deleterious decisions.
A statement issued to KNS reads, It seems as if the powers in New Delhi even in times of a global pandemic, want to torment the hapless people of Jammu and Kashmir one way or other. By moving thousands of service matters concerning all and sundry including matters pertaining class 4th and casual labourers to CAT Chandigarh, it becomes amply clear that current regime in New Delhi wants recourse to legal remedy to be limited to only a select few. Henceforth by implementing such a decision employees for redressal of issues would have to travel to Chandigarh which is an incommodious, lumber-some affair. This would ultimately result in deprivation of thousands of employees from a speedy and cost effective redressal Avenue. Rather than establishing tribunals in Jammu and Srinagar for redressal of service matters of employees of J&K, decision in present form is against the interests of employees of Jammu & Kashmir and not acceptable to the party at any cost. One fails to understand when the basic issue of abrogation of 35A and 370 itself is subjudice, what explains silence of Supreme Court of India over such machinations and disregard to its very jurisdiction asked Party Spokesperson Sheeban Ashai? Awami Itehad Party strongly denounced the decision and urged Supreme Court of India to take suo moto cognizance of such orders passed by Government of the day. It said (KNS)
