Srinagar, May 05 (KNS): Pahari cultural club president Abdul Rashid Qureshi on Tuesday urged the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chander Murmu and PM Narendra Modi to facilitate evacuation of residents of Karnah-Kupwara who are stranded at various quarantine centres in Delhi since March 2020.
Expressing serious concern over their safety he said that the stranded residents of Karnah are in a precarious situation and have been sending distress calls to their families for their immediate migration.
According to statement issued to KNS, “These residents of various areas of Karnah are mostly students, labourers or people affiliated with Tableegi Jammat and have been kept at various quarantine centres like Sultanpuri and Sahdra in Delhi for the last one month. All of them have been tested and declared negative for COVID-19,” said Mr Rahid Qureshi.
He said there is no scientific reason to retain these people in quarantine centres once they have been declared negative for the deadly virus. “These stranded people are economically poor and can’t afford to sustain their living in Delhi. Similarly, back at home, their families are not only worried about their safety but sustenance, which is not possible without their presence in their homes,” he added.

He urged the Lieutenant Governor G.C Murmu to ensure safety, free accommodation, food and ration for all these stranded inhabitants of Karnah. (KNS)
