Encounter rages in Parigam Pulwama


Srinagar, Nov 19 (KNS): An encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Parigam village of Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
A senior police official told KNS that a joint contingent of Army’s 50RR, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Parigam village after specific inputs came in about the presence of militants in the area.
He said soon the joint forces established contact, the hiding militants in the area fired upon forces party, triggering an encounter in the area.
According to police sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
They said all entry and exit points have been sealed while additional deployment of forces have been called on to the encounter site.
Earlier in the day, four militants were killed near Ban toll plaza at Nagrota area of Udhampur district on Srinagar – Jammu highway after forces intercepted the vehicle in which militants were travelling.
Police official told KNS that a Nakka party intercepted militants in wee hours of Thursday who initially hurled grenades at forces; however during retaliatory fire all four militants were killed. He said during exchange of fire, two forces personnel were also suffered bullet injuries who instantly were rushed to hospital for treatment. (KNS)
