Srinagar, November 05 (KNS): An Encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Meej area of Pampore in South Kashmir's Awantipora on thrusday evening.
Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service said, joint team of Army's 50RR, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly the Cardon and Search operation (CASO) in the area following the inputs of militants.
Reports said as the joint team of security forces encircled the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated ensuing the gunbattle.
An official also confirmed the exchange of gunfire between militants and government forces in the area and said encounter is underway.
