Anantnag, June 22 (KNS): A gunfight broke out between government forces and militants in verinag forests area in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday.

According to KNS Correspondenta joint team of army’s 2 Paras, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

Reports saidas the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering gunbattle.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of gunfire between forces and militants.(KNS)
