Handwara, 3rd May: Expressing anguish over loss of lives in Handwara, incarcerated Er Abdur Rashid led Awami Itehad Party today in a statement called upon both sides to at once stop the impenitent bloodletting, at least during the Holy month of Ramadan. It is for both sides to understand that  bloodshed won’t yield any results. In recent past also, there have been numerous squrmishes at the borders resulting in loss of precious lives. Every other day encounters are going on across Kashmir, it is highly reprehensible that even in times of a deadly pandemic, the leadership from both sides seem to be more interested in carnage rather than focusing on saving precious lives. Casualties at the cost of irrational posturing and intractable,political hardball are very unfortunate. It is for those at helm of affairs  to understand Kashmir in its historical perspective. One needs to understand the dynamics of world are undergoing change and therefore,their outlook on kashmir problem requires to be revisited by non- violent means by both the sides. The current situation demands wisdom and  pragmatism.A number of innocents have been killed in last one month, its high time Indian leadership and Militant organisations announce a ceasefire and unconditionally holds talks. We also request Pakistani leadership to create an atmosphere of cordiality by impressing upon india to pave the way for talks which is the only way forward. Both sides must understand Kashmir requires a peaceful resolution and can be settled amicably, political issues cannot be resolved with coersive measures. It is for every right thinking citizen to take cognizance of relentless voilence and sufferings caused especially to Kashmiris, who have been bearing the brunt of all hostilities. Awami Itehad Party squarely rejected statement of newly elected UK Labour leader, Keir Starmer. His statement is not in consonance with the historic stand of Labour Party vis-a-vis Kashmir issue, it is regrettable that some individuals easily capitulate political ideologies and principles for personal benefits said Party Spokesperson Sheeban Ashai. Awami Itehad Party denounces voilence of any kind and urges both sides to resolve all outstanding issues amicably, taking Kashmiri leadership onboard.
