Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Srinagar in connection with its probe into a money laundering case.
According to sources, Mufti arrived at the RajbBagh office of ED office around 11 a.m was grilled for five hours. Her statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Earlier, Mufti had skipped ED summons on March 15 and 23 in the national capital saying that she has prior commitments that cannot be cancelled.  She had earlier requested the ED to shift her questioning to Srinagar.
However it is yet not clear in which case Mufti was being probed.
On Mar 19, Delhi High Court had refused to stay summons issued to her after she moved the court. Earlier on Mar 15, ED had not insisted on her personnel appearance.
Speaking to reporters after her ED presence, Mufti said, “I was questioned regarding my father’s land in Bijbhehra and whom it was sold and for how much amount.  How and whom youth engagement fund was given and secret fund for widows. What were the criteria for beneficiaries for getting the fund. Dissent has been criminalized in this country. It is not running according to the constitution of India. It is run according to a political party. Those who raise voice are hounded by agencies. My hands are clean, I have nothing to hide. It took them two years to investigate; they got nothing against me .Now they want to investigate the money spend on my father’s mausoleum.  We will continue our agenda for J&K and restoration of Article 370.
