Drug de-addiction awareness programme held in GDC Tanghdar

Karnah Mar, 27 (KNS)  A drug de-addiction awareness programme was organised at conference hall of Government Degree College Tanghdar on Saturday.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS)  Judicial Magistrate Karnah Mohd waseem Mirza and medical officer SDH Tanghdar Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad parray were invited to delivers the lecturers on said topic.
The speakers deliberated on the ill-effects of drug abuse and highlighted the need of taking preventive measures to eradicate the menace of drugs addiction.

The organisers said that the main aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the student community to take necessary steps for curbing the drug menace.
Mohd Waseem mirza, Judicial magistrate Karnah who was the chief guest on the occasion, delivered lecturer on 'legal aspect of drug abuse' and talked at length about hard and illigal drugs which invite legal implication and severe punishments. He asked the students not to indulge in drug abuse and other social evils and instead be role models in the field of education and sports.
 Dr. Mukhtar ahmad parray from health department gave a detailed account about drug abuse and talked about major symptoms and health implication of drug addiction, he informed that about 91 percent of the patients admitted in drug de-addiction centre belong to 17 to 35 years of age. 
He highlighting the harmful effects of drugs, he said that it starts merely as amusement but ends up becoming addiction.
 Principal of the college Dr. G.M Lone who presided over the event, delivered his presidential adress and expressed his sincere gratitude to the invited speakers.

The programme was attended by large number of students beside college teaching and non-teaching staff, SHO Karnah and additional public prosecuting officer Masroor Qadri, the programme was eneded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad.(KNS)
